Job Description

We’re looking for someone with a sharp mind, a collaborative spirit, and a knack for making complex economic trends clear and compelling. Reporting to the General Manager Strategy and Business Capability, you will use your expertise and communication skills to amplify ChristchurchNZ’s voice as trusted thought leader in economic development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and interpreting economic data to provide actionable insights that highlight key trends and support ChristchurchNZ’s strategic objectives and the city’s economic ambitions. 
  • Providing expert advice and commentary on emerging challenges and opportunities impacting Christchurch’s economic landscape, including identifying risks, forecasting impacts, and recommending strategies to maximise positive outcomes
  • Partnering with leaders across projects and campaigns, integrating economic insights into organisational messaging and ensuring clarity and consistency across all communication channels 
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and partners to strengthen ChristchurchNZ’s position as a credible thought leader in economic development.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • The ability to interpret complex information and provide insightful advice, concise analysis, and strategic recommendations. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey economic insights to diverse audiences. 
  • Advanced skills in working with numeric data and conducting quantitative analysis. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. 
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently. 
  • Self-motivation, curiosity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and lateral thinking. 
  • A passion for research, knowledge, and continuous learning, with a strong interest in economic development.
